DNA löste stölden

Följande historia går att finna på Icehorse News. Ännu ett bevis på hur färgen på hästen och DNA kan lösa stölder på hästar.

When Saeunn Oddsdottir at Steinar in Stafholtstungur loaned her horse Baldur to a horse drive, she didn‘t expect anything else but getting her horse back after a few days. Since then, 3 years have passed. The one who borrowed Baldur changed his microchip, changed his name, lied about his birth place and sold him to Germany. When Saeunn started to look for Baldur, she went to the man she loaned Baldur too, that pretended that he couldn‘t find him in his fields. He denied Saeunn for looking there her self. What became his downfall was that the breeding line he claimed Baldur came from, can not produce yellow dun, like Baldur.Saeunn said in a phone interview with the news agency that she could not bring her self to keep quiet about this. She sought advice from the farmers association who quickly found Baldur at his new location. The German owner permitted a DNA sample to be taken from the horse and that produced proof of the horse theft. Then finally the thief confessed and through Saeunn‘s lawyer he paid her for Baldur to avoid of being charged.Saeunn was very hurt by this attitude. The man was guilty of many things. Both towards her as the owner and towards Baldur, who was never suppose to leave the country.Saeunn said that Baldur is a living animal and that she was more hurt by the actions against him much more then if her car had been stolen.
